It’s Not Easy Being Green: What Does “Green” Really Mean

Even though we are faced with tough economic times today, we still have to make decisions today about our facilities and their operations that will impact us for decades to come. Recent studies have indicated that most institutions have embraced “going green’ through supporting LEED certification for new buildings or through a desire to acquire products that are more “green”. But the same survey indicates that few people are actually aware of how to evaluate whether a product is in fact green or not. This presentation is intended to benefit anyone who has an interest in understanding more about what the green movement means to them within the context of their facility. An overview of the various green programs and initiatives that are under way will be explored and guidelines provided on the types of things to look for when evaluating green products.
