On March 7, 2010, voters in Switzerland—a country known for having the strictest animal welfare regulations in the world to protect its pet, farm, and other animals—rejected by a majority of almost 70% a ballot proposed by animal rights groups to appoint lawyers to represent abused in animals in its courts1,2,3.
